Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC) Holds April Meeting

​On Thu. April 27, 2017, the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC) held its second meeting at Unity Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill. 

The meeting kicked off with a presentation by Kara Drane of the Catawba Regional Council of Governments. The presentation provided an overview of the responses received during the CPAC subcommittee breakout sessions on March 30th. Planning Director Cronin provided information about new residential development since 2010, as well as population and household projections for the next 20 years. Assistant Planner Diane Dil also provided an overview of current and planned development projects in the planning area, including those in the Town of Fort Mill, City of Tega Cay, and unincorporated York County. 

Following the presentations, the CPAC broke out into its three subcommittee groups.

  • Land Use, Transportation & Housing: The Land Use, Transportation & Housing Subcommittee discussed the following items:
    • ​Diversity and Affordability of Housing Options
    • Transportation Network Deficiencies and Transportation Alternatives (Bus, Light Rail, Etc.)
    • Neighborhood Connectivity
    • Regional Coordination Among Local Governments on Land Use Decisions

  • Cultural Resources, Natural Resources & Public Health: The Cultural Resources, Natural Resources & Public Health Subcommittee discussed the following items:
    • Cultural & Entertainment Facility Deficiencies
    • Strategies for Protecting Natural Resources
    • Proximity of Neighborhoods to Parks and Access to Fresh Foods
    • Methods for Promoting More Active Lifestyles

  • Economic Development & Community Facilities: The Economic Development & Community Facilities Subcommittee discussed the following items:
    • Targeted Industries for the Fort Mill area
    • Regional Impacts on Local Economic Development
    • Community Facilities Necessary to Support Residential and Commercial Growth
    • Impact of Changing Demographics on Community Facilities

The next meeting of the CPAC is scheduled for Thu. May 25, 2017, at 6:30 PM. The meeting will take place at Unity Presbyterian Church (303 Tom Hall Street).
